Golf by the Numbers: Fore-casting the Impact of Her Shot Golf
At Her Shot Golf, we are dedicated to expanding access and providing meaningful enrichment opportunities in golf for girls ages 11–18. Through intentional programming, we create pathways for young athletes to develop their skills, build confidence, and explore future possibilities within the sport. Our mission is to empower girls through golf, leadership, and life skills—ensuring every participant has the resources, exposure, and support they need to thrive both on and off the course.
Why Golf Programs Like Her Shot Are So Important:
Despite the growth of women’s sports, golf remains a sport where accessibility and enrichment opportunities continue to be barriers for many young girls. Research shows:
Girls drop out of sports at nearly twice the rate of boys by age 14 (Women’s Sports Foundation).
By age 17, more than half of girls will have quit sports altogether due to a lack of opportunities, confidence, and access to programs (Women’s Sports Foundation).
Less than 25% of all golfers are female, and only a fraction of that percentage represents youth participation (National Golf Foundation).
Access to mentorship and structured programs significantly increases the likelihood of girls staying in sports, building leadership skills, and pursuing career pathways in athletics.
What We’re Doing to Change That:
Her Shot Golf is actively working to break down barriers and create pathways for young women in golf by:
Providing hands-on golf instruction with experienced PGA & LPGA coaches.
Offering mentorship opportunities with female leaders in sports and business.
Building a supportive community where girls can grow, learn, and connect with peers.
Creating exposure to career opportunities in golf beyond playing, such as coaching, business, and course design.
Ensuring cost is never a barrier by providing resources, equipment, and scholarship opportunities.
Why Her Shot Matters:
Keeping girls engaged in sports has lifelong benefits, including:
Higher self-esteem and confidence
Stronger leadership and teamwork skills.
Improved academic performance and career opportunities.
Better physical and mental well-being.
